The Youth Coding League at Chaffee Elementary is offered to any 5th or 6th grade student. It is implemented by the Marquette Technology Institute (MTI) located in Cape. They provide the opportunity for interested students to learn the foundations of block-based programming language. Growing up in this technology based world, we know the importance of introducing coding to students to help them be successful, but it also helps in other areas that are essential as well. Coding requires a huge amount of problem solving and patience. The club also encourages team-work, leadership, empathy, creativity, and perseverance. These are life skills essential not only for success academically, but socially as well.
The club will meet on Tuesdays 3:00-4:00 pm, and dates will be listed on the school website calendar and elementary school announcements. It is a semester long course and attendance is required.
